The previous tenants of our house let their cats urinate in our closets. They now smell very badly of urine. It’s very strong too. We’ve tried various things but none have worked so far. Some things even made the closets smell worse.

What products/mixes have worked for you? Please give instructions also if possible.

My friend had 3 cats and 2 dogs that did not go out. We have repainted the upstairs, but the cellar still smells terrible. How can we eliminate that smell. Is it true not to use chlorine as ammonia in the cats urine may cause a reaction?

I just moved into an apartment where the previous tenant allowed her pets(dog and cats) to urinate wherever they pleased. She clearly made no attempt to clean up the stains while they were fresh. There was a layer of dried urine(possibly cat spray) about an inch thick, along the wall where the floor and molding meet. I had to pry it up, it was disgusting. I’m wondering how I can clean the floors. The smell is awful. I’ve tried cleaning with regular floor cleaner and also nature’s miracle, which hasn’t helped. If I used a refinisher would that seal the wood and take care of the smell???

E asked:
I recently got second-hand couches from a friend. She has 3 dogs and two cats. As far as she knows, the pets never ‘made a mess’ on the couches, but ever since the couches arrived I have noticed a lingering pet urine smell near the couches. What is the best way to clean the couches and get the smell out? Note: these are cloth couches and there are lots of pillows with non-removable covers.
Thanks!

I came home tonight and my cats had knocked a bottle of red wine from the top of my fridge onto my ceramic tile floor. I’m really worried about the grout because I rent. I got down and scrubbed it with Clorox OxiMagic but it still looks very dingy. Does anyone know of a better way to clean it?
Thanks!
