I will soon be moving my kids into a house where there has been dogs and cats and smokers. I have a 3 year old with allergies and a baby who will be crawling soon and her mouth is always on the floor. I know there has been dog and cat pee and poop on the carpets. I need to know if a professional cleaning will rid the carpet and carpet pads of any harmful bacteria or should they all be replaced? Also does anyone know if the chemicals from smoking stay around for years on the walls and carpets?

I consulted some companies; one said steam clean was the best; one said steam clean did not dry quickly; one said their self-invented method was the best. I was confused, so I came here to ask for help. I only want answers about professional cleaning, not cleaing by myself. Thanks.
